About BCME
British Congress of Mathematics Education
BCME is an event timed to occur between its international equivalent, ICME. The intention is that all sections of mathematics and mathematical education should come together in a single conference to celebrate, enrich, refresh and build mathematical and pedagogical confidence and expertise. Hitherto, it has been run on an ad-hoc basis; henceforth, and commencing with BCME-6, there is a determination amongst all its partners that BCME should be an established, visible and highly successful event that has its own identity, timing and impact.
Following the highly successful BCME6 JMC has agreed to explore the possibility of holding BCME on a four yearly basis synchonised two years either side of ICME ( www.icme-10.dk/ ). It is envisaged that the next BCME will take place at Easter 2010 and that major mathematics education organisations will not hold separate annual conferences in that year.
